Introducing the Branch Insurance Exchange
A program designed to benefit our customers.
Announcing the Branch Insurance Exchange - a new way to drive the cost of insurance down.
Big news alert!
As you've hopefully gleaned by now, at Branch, we're literally obsessed with finding ways to lower the cost of insurance. That's why we built our company on making it easy to bundle your home and auto insurance. Everyone knows bundling saves you money, but it's always been so hard to do. We made it simple (like 2 questions simple) so we could help more people lower the cost to be insured.
So, we're really excited to be announcing a whole new way to drive the cost of insurance down even more. It's called the Branch Insurance Exchange, a reciprocal insurance exchange built to give Branch customers more control over their policies and greater savings.
That's cool, but what's a reciprocal insurance exchange?
A reciprocal insurance exchange is an insurance company owned entirely by its members and managed by insurance professionals. While most conventional insurance companies ultimately answer to corporate shareholders, reciprocals answer only to their members.
You're not just a member. You're also an owner.
Members of the Branch Insurance Exchange are also part owners. Sounds cool, but if you're wondering if that means you have a lot of work to do, don't worry, you don't. All of the ways you expect to interact with your insurance company stay the same - paying your premiums, filing claims, getting reimbursed - but as an owner you do get access to all kinds of great perks, like:
Subscriber Savings Account
As a member, you'll get a Subscriber Savings Account (SSA). This is really cool. In a normal insurance company, whatever money has been collected from policyholders, but not used to pay claims, gets kept as corporate profits. With the Branch Insurance Exchange, that money gets returned to members through their SSA. Once you become a member, we'll provide more details into getting your SSA, checking your balance, and requesting distributions. But, as the size of the community grows, so too does that opportunity for SSA funds!
Subscriber's Advisory Forum
While we at Branch are responsible for the management of the Branch Insurance Exchange, you - the members - sit on a special Advisory Forum that regularly interacts with the Branch management team to recommend improvements to how the company operates. This establishes an open and transparent view into the operations of the Exchange and gives members a say in how the company functions. A summary of how you can participate is below and you may find a current copy of the SAF rules here.
Electronic Discussion Forum
Members can voice concerns, make recommendations, ask questions or offer general suggestions at any time by sending an email to email@example.com.
At least once per quarter, Branch will convene an online event where members can pose questions and engage in discussion with Branch leadership. We'll periodically send around a schedule of upcoming events.
The Branch Insurance Exchange isn't the only reciprocal. But it is the best.
It's important to realize that the Branch Insurance Exchange isn't the only reciprocal exchange. Other financially strong reciprocals exist today, including PURE, Farmers, and Erie Insurance.* But, we would humbly submit that the Branch Insurance Exchange is the best. Not only do members get access to all of the awesome perks we discussed above, but, Branch Insurance Exchange also has the lowest cost structure. You see, the way all reciprocals work is that the professionals managing the company take a small payment for their work. No exchange manager takes as small a fee at Branch. By taking only a 5% fee, Branch is able to drive insurance prices down for members.
Getting back to getting each other's backs.
At Branch, that's what we're all about - leveraging the power and strength of community to make insurance better and more affordable for everyone. That's why we created the Branch Insurance Exchange: to put the power of our community to work to lower the cost of insurance and return more value to members.
Sounds great, how do I join?
As the Branch Insurance Exchange becomes available in states, new customers will automatically be enrolled. That means as a new customer of Branch, you'll immediately start to enjoy the perks of being a member. As of October 2020, Branch Insurance Exchange is available in Ohio, but other states will be rapidly coming online in the coming months.
If you're already a Branch customer, you'll be receiving an email with more details on how you can quickly and easily convert your existing policy to a Branch Insurance Exchange policy.
